Who Are the Wanderers in Time?
The Servant and the Thief (Book One)
They thought their trip to London would be fun, then disaster strikes…
Amy (16) and Ben (14) have two problems. First, while the family is visiting London, their parents go missing in a freak lab accident, caused by a high-tech quantum device and an ancient Egyptian arch. Second, through a similar mishap, Amy and Ben find themselves transported back to the middle of the Victorian era.
As they struggle to survive this complex time period, they launch a frantic search for clues of their parents’ whereabouts, and scramble to find the way back home before more trouble catches up with them. But trouble does come, in the form of thieves, mistaken identities, an eccentric crime lord, a self-proclaimed prophet, and other mysterious happenings. Will our twenty-first century heroes prevail over Queen Victoria’s London?
Prophets and Liars (Book Two)
They went through the arch, but are not out of danger yet…
With their parents still missing, Amy and Ben Matthews enter the apparatus a second time, hoping it will take them home. Instead, they find themselves stuck in the late 17th Century.
In this sequel to The Servant and the Thief, the Matthews children struggle to blend in during an even more primitive time than the Victorian era. Amy befriends a noble’s daughter, posing as a Spanish girl of the same rank, while Ben joins up with a troupe of actors who are staging an oddly familiar play.
With clues about their parents fewer and the threat of discovery ever looming, Amy and Ben are hard-pressed to focus on getting home, and they are not prepared for the setbacks and calamities that overtake them in these tumultuous times of London’s history. Will our 21st century heroes be able to survive, even when so many people of that time did not?
